The Baptism of Christ - Jesus in the Jordan at the hand of St. John the Baptist - rendered in a classical devotional style drawn from traditional Catholic iconography.
The composition is the traditional one: Christ standing in the water, John pouring from the shell, the light of the Spirit descending. A scene rather than a portrait, and built to reward a second look.
