Saint Lawrence Print

Saint Lawrence - deacon of Rome, martyred in 258, patron of cooks, librarians, and the poor - rendered in a classical devotional style drawn from traditional Catholic iconography.

The composition is the traditional one: Lawrence in the deacon's dalmatic, palm of martyrdom in hand, the gridiron at his side, Rome behind him. Composed rather than gruesome.
